April 30, 2007
Dear Members & Friends, Thank you for your support of and participation in our Fellowship this year. This letter is primarily about money. Though financial support is not the only way to contribute, without it we cannot sustain our Fellowship building, support our affiliation with the UUA, or provide programming to promote the spiritual growth and well-being of our young people and ourselves. Those of you who missed the program on April 22, missed a humorous performance of “Coyote Wants To Know What Money Will Buy.” Coyote said "According to what I've seen there are many money games you humans play. Some are healthy, some are unhealthy. Some of them are spiritually nutritious, sort of whole-wheat oat-bran money games. And some are like these donuts; delicious, but in the long run unhealthy." "Investments in people are always healthy money games.” We ask that you make a pledge, and that you consider increasing the amount of your pledge, if possible. Since the budget to be proposed at the Annual Meeting on June 3 will be based on the total amount pledged; we request that you respond as promptly as possible. Please bring your forms to the service on May 6 or send them to Barbara Berens (see addresses below). We look forward to our next congregational year, thanks to your generous gifts of time, talent and financial support. As another step in planning for our future, our board of trustees established a Capital Fund to be used for a new (to us) facility with $5000 of UUFM funds transferred to the Capital Fund. This is a separate fund that can only be used for a new facility. The money will be earning interest until it is needed. We request donations and pledges, large & small, to the Capital Fund. Having an established Capital Fund is a requirement for getting a loan from the UUA. After we have had a growing Capital Fund for three years we can apply to the UUA for a low interest loan to help finance a new facility.
