From: "Bonna Graham-Hall" To: ; "Second newsletter list" Subject: Weekly update October 18 Date: Wednesday, October 17, 2007 11:38 PM Hi Everyone-- There is lots of news this week: ~~This is our weekend with our consulting minister Wanda Daniel. She will have office hours Friday from 4 - 8 pm at the Fellowship. If you would like to discuss anything with her, call for an appointment: 406-697-8369 or email her at wkayd@earthlink.net ~~Wanda is leading a 2 part workshop Saturday morning 11- 1:30 pm focusing on "Cleaning Out the Clutter" for our personal lives and for creating ideas for changes we would like to see at the Fellowship. Come to learn and discuss. ~~ There will be a potluck lunch/brunch after the workshop. Let's do vegetarian. I will bring a crustless egg, cheese, and potato quiche. ~~Wanda will lead the service Sunday entitled "Releasing and Receiving" with music featured by "Earthshine" a guest duo from Billings, Scott and Kris Prinzing. ~~ The Board will meet after the service Sunday. ~~ A copier has been donated to the Fellowship, which, though it doesn't make pristine copies, can be used for those last minute situations that will save a trip to the copy store. ~~ Carol Marsh is travellling to Washington, D. C. Sunday and will meet in person with our Congressmen and their staffs. She offered to take, in person, any letters we would like to write to them. If there is any subject(s) about which you want them to know your opinion, put it in writing. Speak up about our civil liberties, the Iraq war, Iran, US torture policy, SCHIP, carbon dioxide standards, Darfur, environmental issues, to name a few. Carol will pick letters up Saturday at Jeannette Rankin Peace Center on Higgins across from the Missoulian. They don't have to be long and involved. Speak your mind and let them know what you care about. For information, call or email Carol, 543-1038, carolnhero@msn.com ~~The First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque has written asking us if we as a congregation will join their congregation in supporting the National Religious Campaign Against Torture. If you are interested in discussing this issue, please RSVP and we can decide how to proceed. We can also talk after the service Sunday. Go to www.nrcat.org or members of the First Unitarian Church's Social Justice Council: Jane Ronca-Washburn: swashbur@nmia.com Ann Harrison: anndickpr@netzero.net or Renee Wolters: rrwolters@aol.com ~~Only 3 weeks till the holiday craft and treasure sale. Be thinking of something you can contribute to this fun project to benefit Josh's school in Nepal and our youth group's Giving Tree: gently used books, CD's, movies, baked goods, homemade candy, craft items. Sue Eakins has already made vegetarian cookbooks for holiday recipes that we can sell. ~~Sue Eakins and her husband are moving down to their animal refuge on Dry Gulch Road this weekend. I bet the chickens will be much more comfortable, not to mention Sue's family. ~~The MDD annual meeting in Billings was very uplifting, informative, and fun. Rev. Parker was an excellent speaker and had intriguing historical research on Christianity and how it changed in the 9th -11th centuries to focus on sin and the need for redemption. ~~ A new slogan for UU's, " We have questions for your answers." If you are still reading, take care, do good work, and keep the faith. (even if you're not still reading.....) Remember to take time to write a letter to our congressmen, and if you can, make 3 copies so all of them will have their own copy. If you want, bring letters to the workshop Saturday and I will take them to JRPC. Bonna Graham-Hall
