From: "Bonna Graham-Hall" To: ; "Second newsletter list" Subject: Weekly Update October 11 Date: Thursday, October 11, 2007 9:30 PM Hi Everyone -- ~~Carol Gordon will lead this Sunday's service featuring Robert Fulghum's work in "A Ministry of Humor." Besides humor a la Fulghum, there will be fun UU jokes. ~~Remember, Abaki Beck is offering a buffalo and a vegie chili fundraiser after the service this Sunday to raise money for the "Giving Tree" holiday drive to enable local underpriviledged young people to have a special gift at Christmas. Please come and support her! ~~This weekend is the Mountain Desert District annual conference in Billings. Dove, Melissa, and I will be driving down Friday morning, returning Sunday evening. ~~ This Sunday, October 14, is Association Sunday for the entire UUA. Over 560 Unitarian Universalist congregations and one district (our own MDD) will participate in this first of five annual Association Sundays to launch the "Now Is the Time" UUA Capital Campaign. Contributions gathered will support national, regional and local marketing and growth projects. The goal of $1,000,000 is well within our reach due to a generous matching gift: Our gifts this Sunday will be matched dollar for dollar up to $500,000. The MDD Board encourages us to be generous in our contribution. The offering will be contributed to the Association Sunday campaign to help build our liberal religious voice across the nation. ~~ The movie "Iron Jawed Angels" with Hilary Swank about the women's suffrage movement will be shown in the JRPC library on Tuesday, October 23rd at 7:15 pm. This is one of the often overlooked stories about the women who put their lives at risk to help American women win the right to vote. If you've seen it before, see it again, and invite your friends to join you. For more information, call the Jeannette Rankin Peace Center at 543-3955 or Carel Schneider at 721-2482. ~~There are only a few weeks before the holiday craft sale. Proceeds will go in part to Josh's school in Nepal and in part to the local "Giving Tree" project for youth in Missoula. Start thinking of items you may be able to contribute--hand-made craft items, knitted goods, baked goods, candies, gently used books and music. Take care. See you after Billings. Bonna Graham-Hall
