Call JRPC for information:543-3955 or www.jrpc.org ~~"*Earth Hour"* started with a question: How can we inspire people to take action on climate change? The answer: On 31 March 2007, in Sydney, Australia, 2.2 million people and 2100 businesses turned off their lights for one hour -- *Earth Hour*: This massive collective effort reduced Sydney's energy consumption by 10.2% for one hour, which is the equivalent effect of taking 48,000 cars off the road for a year. With Sydney icons like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House turning their lights off, and unique events such as weddings by candlelight, the world took notice. Inspired by the collective effort of millions of Sydneysiders, many major global cities are joining *Earth Hour* in 2008, turning a symbolic event into a global movement. So at* 8 PM, Saturday March 29,* we are asking people to turn off all their lights for one hour. You can sign up to do this as an individual, and also as an organization. For more information, go to www.earthhour.org." If you are at the Circle Supper at the Flanery's that night, it may be a candle light dinner! ~~ It's time for *Circle Suppers* -- a chance to enjoy a meal and get to know fellow 'shipmates' in a more relaxed, small group setting. This year two circle suppers will be held. The first will be on Saturday, March 29 at the home of Dove and Bill Flanery. The second will be on Saturday, April 12 at Carol Gordon's home and may include children. A week or so before each supper, the hostess will contact those who signed up to confirm that they are still able to attend, and to work out what to bring. Hosts provide the location and beverages; food is provided by the other participants. Sign-up sheets for these circle suppers are posted at the Fellowship House. ~~The *Eclectic Readers *book club's* *March selection is *The Secret River * by Kate Grenville.
